1. Water too dirty for irrigation

WATER from a reservoir that serves as Beijing's fourth-biggest source of drinking water is unfit even for irrigation.

A report by the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau said that water in the Guanting reservoir fell short of standards for level five on the country's scale of water quality.

Water at levels one to three is considered potable, while that at level five is fit only for irrigation, the report said. It added that around half of the lakes and ponds in the city's scenic spots were so polluted that they could not be used for irrigation.

China faces a serious water pollution problem that is compounding water shortages in many cities.

On Average, Globally, a Bottle of Water Cost More Than a Bottle of Milk...

America Is At The Dawn Of An Uphill Battle Against Water Shortages Joining A Number Of Other Countries—Including Our Neighbors To The South

Where Does America Stand In Terms Of Water Supply And Shortages?
For a country that just broke the 300 million population mark water shortages will become common in communities across the United States. In the coming years nearly every state should expect to be grappling with water issues. Many feel it's just a matter of time depending on where you have droughts and expected growth. However, when viewing the effects of water crisis globally we can’t help but feel a sense of impending doom for America. After all, we are a country whose population has nearly doubled since 1950, and already use over 400 BILLION gallons of water a day for agricultural, industrial, and private uses.
