During Lorne’s 18-year career in the Irrigation Industry, he has served to create and direct irrigation industry training in North America and Europe as a keynote speaker and instructor. A Certified Irrigation Designer, Certified Irrigation Contractor, Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor and a Certified Water Conservation Practitioner with California and Nevada, as well as a member of the American Society of irrigation Consultants, Mr. Haveruk is among the highest certified irrigation water efficiency consultants in North America.
His firm’s vision is focused on the efficient use of outdoor water. Leading edge designs, concepts, strategies based upon emerging technology form the basis of design. He is also an educator and trains those who design, install, service and operate irrigation and central control systems focusing on making every drop count.
Past Irrigation Association Board of Director, Lorne was instrumental in growing the Turf and Landscape Common Interest Group, at the same time chairing the now State and Affiliates Committee. An educator for the past eight years, he stays at the forefront of the irrigation industry. EPA recognized as a WaterSense Partner, he consults with government and others that require real world solutions for the ever-growing world water crisis.
Lorne has been recognized by LA’s and Architects for creating world class water efficient irrigation designs – the like of which have not been seen before. Based on a background in construction, implementation and project management they get it right. His design firm specializes in LEED, High Efficiency, Green Roof, Green Wall, and conventional irrigation design concepts. Water - comes from onsite sources - reuse water, rainwater harvesting, ground water, and other off the grid water sources when possible. Lorne and his Team have designed the first high efficiency Minnesota Zoo, Russia’s Grizzly Coast project where the grizzly bears, panthers, wild boars sea otters and other animals had to be considered into the design. The world’s first LEED Platinum Residential project utilizing harvested rainwater is currently underway.

Others include a water wise irrigation system for Hotel Presidente in Siderno, Italy and a low volume irrigation system for Cassa Diano. Designed to slowly water the new plant material just below the soil surface, maximizing the water efficiency of the irrigation systems. The La Quinta Hotel hired Lorne to be rid of a courtyard irrigation system, which continually washed dirt onto pathways due to excess water runoff from conventional spray sprinklers. Through assessing and auditing, a plan was devised for the more than 600 sprinkler heads.
